Philadelphia-raised Ron Gallo used to front the rock band Toy Soldiers. Stylistically, his more recent solo albums explore garage-punk and indie. 'learning 2 chill' is his new single, supplied with a home-made video that reveals Ron in various spots in his house and garden, peacefully smelling the plants around him. The song sees reverberated piano that swirls as if it's been washed up by waves, over an uncomplicated hip hop beat. Ron's vocals are calm and nonchalant, as he sings "I'm learning to chill cos i cant go out, I stand up then sit back down". But despite the restrictions, there is a sense of hope to focus on: "the good old days, they will return. Until then the fridge is stocked.". Sliding string sounds and pitched-up vocals ornament the track towards the end.
